Soft washing protects exterior surfaces while removing harmful contaminants. Using a low-pressure washing technique, MultiMan Services will safely clean your home. We use environmentally-friendly solutions designed to protect your home and help it look new for years to come.

Soft Wash Vs. Pressure Wash

Soft washing is a low-pressure cleaning technique when compared to other exterior cleaning services like power washing. Pressure washing is designed for harder surfaces, such as concrete patios, walkways, and driveways. Soft washing allows our team of experts to clean mold, algae, mildew, fungus, and bacteria off surfaces safely. Soft washing is often used when cleaning windows, roof shingles, and other delicate surfaces.

Why Soft Washing for Roofs?

Have you noticed black streaks on your roof? Algae buildup on your roof is common and can drastically impact the lifespan of your delicate roof materials. Caring for your shingles starts with regular roof cleaning. The last thing you want is to allow a power washing company to go up there and blast away at your shingles.

You only get so-so results with this method because it doesn’t actually kill any of the algae or mold. There is also a risk of shortening the lifespan of your roof, as this aggressive cleaning loosens the aggregate or granules that protect your asphalt shingles. The granular protective coating is basically the sunblock that protects the waterproofing asphalt on your roof.

The asphalt keeps rainwater out of your house. The less granular protective coating you have on your roof, the faster your shingles will dry out. When you have us clean your roof with a gentle detergent washing process, it is all done with less than garden hose pressure. We let our cleaning detergents do the work for us.

All of the black streaks on your roof will be gone before we put our ladders away. Any lichen or moss will turn white or yellow, which means that it is dead. Give it a couple of months for Mother Nature to dry out the lichen & moss, and the hard rains will wash it off. Your roof will look brand new!

Other companies will advertise a bleach-free cleaning process. This means that to remove any black streaking moss or lichen from your roof, they will need to use a power washer to rinse off the entire roof. This is where the damage comes in. Some companies that offer roof shampoo claim their process is bleach-free.

To clean the roof, they need to use low to moderate pressure to remove the algae. Upon inspection after their process, your gutters will be full of the protective coating (granules). Yes, this method works. However, you have shortened the lifespan of your roof because the less protective coating now covers the asphalt.

Keep in mind that many roofing manufacturers actually suggest soft washing as the preferred method for cleaning asphalt shingles. If you want your Beloit roof to look and perform its best for years to come, scheduling soft washing with our MultiMan Services team is the best way to do so.

Soft Washing Testimonial

“I have been washing my aluminum siding for well over thirty years with a bucket, a sponge, and a ladder. This year, three things happened: it got late in the year (November), I got old, and I now have vinyl siding. I just don’t like the idea of putting a ladder up against vinyl siding. I see roadside signs advertising house washing all the time now. I hardly knew it had become “a thing.” (Yes, I do believe I invented the idea.) I decided I’d consider it and looked into options.

I came across Multi-Man on the net right away. What first appealed to me was their idea of ‘soft-washing.’ I didn’t want some hack blowing my siding off and soaking the insulation underneath. I thought Multi-Man seemed a little more expensive than some other offerings, but I hoped I was getting what I paid for. They came out promptly, got to work, and were wrapped up in just a couple of hours.

I was afraid to look at the results for fear of being disappointed. I was not disappointed—quite the opposite. I know my vinyl siding is clean because my white eave troughs, soffit, and fascia are bright white. Bright white. I’m picky about the appearance of my house. I’m pleased with the results I have received from Multi-Man and will go with them again.”
